Okay, I’m the worst blogger in the world. I know! I don’t even want to know how long it has been since I posted but I’ll take a rough guess at .. a month or so?! I have no excuse, I’m just lazy really.
A little forewarning .. I’m about to get deep and thought provoking – well that’s the plan anyway.
Seeing as I haven’t posted in such a long time, I figured I would just kind of ramble a little. I’ve been feeling a little low recently, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Although feeling crap is, well, crap .. it kind of helps you realize things the little things around you that you usually don’t notice or that you take for granted. We all have them. Those tiny things that just put a smile on your face and make you giggle a little inside. Sometimes all it takes is that first coffee in the morning or seeing that adorable old couple on the bus on the way to work to let a little sunshine peek through those rainy clouds.
Some of the little things I love are:
The smell of rain on a hot pavement
Ticking off something on my to-do list
Being woken up with a coffee
Waking up in a panic at 7am thinking I’m late and then realizing it’s a Sunday
When the radio plays all my favourites on the way to work
Getting to the bus stop just as the bus pulls up and not having to wait a millennium for it
Being cozy on the sofa with a blanket whilst it’s tipping it down outside
Waking up before my alarm
Finding a top at the back of my wardrobe that I love but forgot I had
Getting home from work and putting my slippers on
The smell of old books.. and new books
We all take simple things for granted, but I don’t think we intend to. It’s so easy to rush through the day and not give anything a second thought, but every now and then it won’t hurt to take a step back and appreciate the little things. One day so easily merges into another, you find yourself doing the same thing day in day out. You have such a busy week, and count the hours until the weekend is finally here and then the spend the whole weekend on the sofa recovering from the previous week. It can be really tricky to actually live, so you can start nice and easy by just taking in the little things. That’s what I’m doing, anyway.
