Reading Habits Tag

I read My Book Sense’s post on this, it looked really fun and I just had to have a go myself. Plus, I’m a sucker for tags.

1. Do you have a certain place at home for reading?

Usually in bed, but I do occasionally cozy up on the sofa with a coffee and a blanket – but I find my bed comfier.

2. Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Argh. I used to be one of those evil people that cornered pages instead of using a bookmark. But fear not, I have learned from my mistakes! I have a few bookmarks but I don’t tend to use them – I either use post-it notes or just random pieces of paper.

3. Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/ a certain amount of pages?

I have to stop at a chapter. That way I know exactly where to start the next time I pick up the book as opposed to re-reading a page a dozen times to find the sentence that I left it at.

4. Do you eat or drink while reading?

Oh absolutely. Like for example, when I was reading Dandelion on Fire with a punnet of grapes by my side, I was getting close to the end and the tension was rising and shit was really going down and before I know – no grapes left. I tension eat. Plus, nothing better than a coffee and a good book.

5. Multitasking: Music or TV while reading?

I just can’t. There’s way too much going on, I either need complete silence or at least a relatively quiet environment to be able to concentrate on a book.

6. One book at a time or several at once?

As much as I try and would love to be able to have several books on the go, I can’t do it. I get so confused and end up mixing up the characters and my mind just explodes.

7. Reading at home or everywhere?

Anywhere and everywhere! In bed, in the car, on the bus to work, at the bus stop and sometimes if I’m feeling particularly active I will take the stairs to the office and read whilst walking up them to distract myself from how embarrassingly out of breath I am after just 2 flights.

8. Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Always in my head. Reading out loud is too much of a distraction. Although if a sentence doesn’t make sense to me I will read it out load slowly until it makes sense!

9. Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

I try SO hard not to, but I’m easily tempted to skip a few sentences and fast tracking slightly. But then I have back track because I realize it makes no sense and I must have missed something huge so I really should learn!

10. Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?

Keeping it like new is ideal but if the spine breaks then it’s not the end of the world.

11. Do you write in your books?

No. I used to write in my required reading books for school just to help when it came the essay writing. Now I tend to post-it note everything.

12. Who do you tag?

I tag Life is a Book Blog and No Space for Milk!

Hope you enjoyed this, it was super fun to fill in – feel free to do it too!!
