I’m sure I’m alone when I say I have a million and one things to do. My to-do list just never ends and finding the time to do the things I actually want to is near enough impossible.Life has a habit of making us feel overwhelmed, there are never hours in the day – am I right?
We’ve always got too much to do and it doesn’t matter how organised we think we are, it all gets out of hand regardless. I’ve never really considered myself as an organised person, I mean once in a while I’ll go mad and completely declutter and reorganise my entire apartment but it really doesn’t take long before it to go back to the way it was. Keeping on top of everything is a myth, it doesn’t ever happen. Well, that’s what I tell myself anyway.
Trying to find a healthy balance between work, daily chores and responsibilities, social life and blogging is a hard feat at the best of times. But without always realising it, we tend to over-complicate things and create work for ourselves.
Surprisingly, it’s actually quite easy to take steps to simplify life, I’ve listed a few below for you to start off with.
Just because you liked one of their posts doesn’t mean you should subscribe to every blog you come across. It’ll make your mailbox a lot neater and I don’t know about you but a decluttered inbox makes me very happy.
CLEAN AS YOU GO
Does anyone else do a ‘Sunday Bosh’? You know, when you spend a good hour or so running around like a crazy woman to get all the jobs done that you’ve neglected throughout the week? It’s not exactly the best Sunday evening routine. It doesn’t have to be this way! Make your bed as soon as you get out of it. Reply to your emails as soon as you’ve opened them. Wash up your mugs and plates as soon as you’re finished with them. Don’t let things pile up. That way you aren’t having to sesh out for an hour catching up with your chores.
CREATE A MORNING ROUTINE
Having a good morning routine can change your life. Rushing to get ready, downing your coffee in one go and running for the bus is not going to set up your day up very well at all. Having a routine in places gives you time to do everything you need to do without being in a hurry. You can write your to-do list, prep your lunch and still have time to pick up a coffee on the way to work.
TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT YOUR RELATIONSHIPS
Don’t waste your time on shitty people, basically. Learn to recognise toxic people, people who don’t make you happy or encourage yourself to better yourself. Time is sacred and make sure you spend it with the right people, the people who make you happy.
LEARN TO SINGLE TASK
Multitasking is not the secret to productivity, it’s the enemy. Schedule your time, prioritise important jobs and you’ll get everything done a lot quicker and probably to a higher standard. Single tasking is the future!
IT’S OKAY TO SAY NO
Don’t be afraid to say no, like I said before – your time is precious so don’t waste it just to be polite. You don’t need to justify your answers, just politely decline.
Value your time and choose wisely how you spend it. Make sure you enjoy what you are doing, don’t keep hold of anything that you isn’t of use to you. Simplifying your life isn’t as hard as it sounds!
